1. Rough copy of book report - Feb. 13
2. Final copy of book report - Feb. 28

There were a few students today who either forgot their novels, or did not use class time efficiently to work on their reading skills. I have spoken to those individuals. Please try and work to the best of your ability - which includes pushing yourself to do things that are sometimes inconvenient or uncomfortable. For example: remembering to pack your novel last night. Or, accepting that you forgot it without making up excuses or trying to avoid reading at all.

The only way we grow is through conflict.

Chapter 1 quiz is tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 4. Review :)

Today students we had computer issues in school so not all students were able to do the online practice quiz. But they can do it at home. It is in their Gmail account. Email me if there are any issues charlesimmonds@nlesd.ca

I will be taking multiple choice from the online practice to put on the test. Yes, you read that correctly. Students can still have access and review these multiple choice. Also, they should have the worksheets done. I also usually take a couple of things from there to put on the test. How much of those worksheets does your child have done. Are they reviewing them?

We will be doing a Science lab next week. Each student will do their own lab write-up. I have posted information on Google Classroom for the students to review.

Students were introduced to their final project for Unit 1: a 'Future Self-portrait.' In this document, students must prove to me that they have truly grasped the idea of empowerment by answering questions, considering their own futures, and by categorizing different situations.

Students will have two more classes to complete this work. If it's not complete in class time, it will be set for homework and due on Oct. 7th.

I don't foresee many people needing to take it home. I believe that with concentration, all students can be finished this by Friday of this week.

The Chapter 4 Science test is now Friday, Dec. 14th. It was meant to be Thursday this week but in checking with the students, 90% did not have the required worksheets finished even though they had a long weekend and the answers are online for review!

Parents must help your child be organised and follow what they have as work/review. I have proposed you get an agenda to help your child to be organised and I have outlined the Science program as efficiently as possible to help you and your child be prepared for any upcoming Science related work.

Please talk to your child about ensuring that they come to class with their book, writing materials and an agenda to help them stay on top of things.
